Theshowwasamoderntakeontheoriginal1958seriesproducedbyOttoMessmer'sformerassistant,JoeOriolo.Hisson,DonOriolo,wasinvolvedinthecreationofthisseriesaswell.Inmanyways,theshowrevertstothesilenteraofshortswithsurrealsettingsandoffbeatcharacterdepictions.Felixisalsomorelikehisoriginalmischievousadultform,ratherthantheyoungandinnocentdepictionfromthe1930s,1950sandthe1988filmFelixtheCat:TheMovie.Itdoes,however,containsomeelementsfromthe1950sseriessuchasFelix'sMagicBagofTricksandthecharacterPoindexter.
