第三季的girlfriend experience与前两季不一样的地方是它着眼于当下可见的未来。叙事的线索采用了虚拟性体验的塑造和优化和其素材数据提供人的经历与故事。
下面谈谈我对这个故事隐喻的解读。
女主是“美与爱欲”的代表。
一开始，主人公Iris放弃了美国人工智能进修的机会，选择去伦敦加入人工智能虚拟女友体验项目。其中的转折点，是其父亲被初诊出早起阿兹海默症。其中的金钱压力，以及该病遗传性对女主本“存在”的威胁，都是女主突然把自己连根拔起去异国他乡的原因。这里表现的是美与爱欲在当代因为近现代发展的不良导致的传承不济。
与此同时，女主在朋友介绍下加入了一家女性陪伴俱乐部，开始了以Cassie之名从一个全新的角度探索自己性魅力的生活。中间有几段女主与客户往来的记录，其实都不是闲笔。与大人物的来往，看似充满对人的尊重体现出来的教养，以及两人在世外桃源般林中屋与世隔绝度假，返祖般重回人与人的亲密关系，但欲抑先扬，这种让女主真假莫辨的亲密关系却戛然而止与大人物不和其同样服务性质的女性往来超过五次的规矩中（政治与美的关系是政治因为虚伪和拒绝了美）；与棒球运动员的来往，表现了女主在两性关系中操纵对方的能力，把一个讨厌自己的人从行为到教养都提升了不止一个维度，更别提对女主的迷恋了，但运动员因为过于迷恋女主想独占她，结果弄巧成拙反而失去女主（流行文化的浅薄与无良不配得到美）；此外，报社老板与其交往那一段，最令人印象深刻是女主穿着苹果绿的塑胶皮衣模仿裁纸间机器人跳舞的那一刻，体现了当代媒体对美和亲密的塑造走向了异端，把人和人的往来引导像人与机器的往来。（传媒与美的关系是传媒因为妄读美的概念而不知美）。
该剧给出的出路，是美与科技的结合，让美在得知自身基因不良，有可能无法传递火种（pass the torch）的巨大威胁下，抛弃沉重和充满缺憾的肉身，将意识，一种通过身体神经，机能和言语表达实体化的可虚拟数据，上传到网络以剜除旧我的弊端，直接升级到无限和完美的2.0。
最后，女主反复提起，要走出去虚拟，要和现实发生联系（merge），实际上不是说女主否定了科技手段；而是表面，美在当代想要继续存在，延续，要抛弃旧的躯壳和思维规矩，直接走向自己从未考虑过的方向。
这样，才能突破肉身限制，成为更长久，甚至永恒的存在。
