此前关于四巨头联合巡演的传闻数周前便已炒得沸沸扬扬，如今这一消息终于尘埃落定。四支乐队近日正式宣布，他们将于明年集体亮相欧洲的Sonisphere系列音乐节。Sonisphere音乐节的首站将于明年6月16日在波兰首都华沙来开序幕，目前已经确定的十五天的演出日程中包括有保加利亚的索菲亚站，罗马尼亚的布加勒斯特站，土耳其的伊斯坦布尔站以及英国的肯伯沃斯站，而更多演出日程将会在几周之内陆续对外公布。
不过四巨头目前并没有公布任何美国巡演的场次。作为2009年“Mayhem”巡演的领军乐队，Slayer将在明年一月份联手麦格戴斯在全美进行一场为期26天的巡演，演出的首站定在美国西雅图市。Metallica在2009年的巡演可谓是满钵而归，乐队在公告牌网站所统计的巡演票房榜总收入排在了第11位。在全年的66场演出中，Metallica总计吸引了112万人次到场观看，门票收入则高达7千6百万美元(约合人民币5亿3千万)。
Metallica乐队近日就参加Sonisphere音乐节的演出发表了一份正式声明，乐队鼓手拉尔斯-乌尔里希(Lars Ulrich)表示：“有谁会想到，25年之后四巨头会联手巡演。在过去的这25年里，我们不仅仅没有沉寂，反而更加的受欢迎。不过四支乐队一起巡演，这还是真是第一次。每当我想起这次演出时，就不由自主的热血沸腾。”Slayer乐队吉他手凯瑞-金(Kerry King)补充说道：“这次巡演最终确定了，乐迷们的愿望也终于得以实现，这简直不可思议！”
麦格戴斯乐队领袖戴夫-马斯特恩(Dave Mustaine)则表示，这样的一次巡演对于金属乐迷来说可谓是“一生难得”，四支载入美国金属乐史册的乐队同台演此前从未有过。马斯特恩说：“如果在演出结束之后，哪位乐迷的脖子还没有断掉，那么他根本不属于这里。”
