PaulFreemanandAlunArmstrongareexcellentasthetwoleads.ItisdifficultnottothinkofPaulFreemanasthevillainousFrencharchaeologistin'RaidersOfTheLostArk'-but,itiscredittohisskillsasanactorthatheisasbelievable(andmuchmorelikable)astheverydifferentLondoncabbieRay.AlunArmstrong,ofteninauthoritativeroles,isconvincingandsympatheticasJim,thesomewhatstereotypicalEnglishpublicschoolmasterwhoisyetsodesirousofbreakingawayfromthelifehehasknownafterheretires.ThankstothechancemeetingwithRay,heisabletofulfilhisambitionsto"seetheworldandfallinlove". Strongperformancesaregivenalsobythesupportingactorsandactresses.SpecialmentionshouldbemadeofRay'sfriendBilly(KarlJohnson)whoaddsatouchofblackhumourtothestory.(Triviapoint:KarlJohnsonwasoneofthemusicianson'Rainbow'initsveryearlydays). PerhapsIshouldmentionthat,althoughfairlyconservativebynature,Ididnotthinkthesceneupstairswasoffensive;rather,Ifounditinnocentandtouching.Whatevermayhavehappened,however,themostimportantaspectoftherelationshipistheirfriendship.JimandRayweretwolonelymenwhowouldhaveprobablyremainedsohadtheynotfoundeachother.Attheend,Iwasontheedgeofmyseat,willingthestorytoendthewayitdidandIwassopleasedwiththeoutcome. 但是，当镜头特写到两行字的时候，我确定这就是开始--环游世界，开始恋爱。
当他退休之后，搭载他的车子的时候，是否在这里就有了萌动。
退休老师是否是同，其实我就推断他孤孤单单一个人的原因就是这个。
人一旦老了，就很多心思。希望被理解。
失去妻子之后的孤寂，儿女的不理解和自私让老人的心越来越孤单。
而他们两个人的相遇则是彼此心灵的抚慰。让孤寂不再孤寂。至少能让他们像老朋友一样说说笑笑。
他们成了密友，一起吃饭，一起刷墙，一起坐车，没事打电话，说说笑笑，甚至一起逛街买衣服。也许在老师眼里，可能他早就确定这个人他早已爱上。而司机早已确定，他就是要的心灵伴侣。两个有差异的想法在更衣的那一刻碰撞了，撞出了火花。他怒了，并不是讨厌他，而是对于突如其来的爱没有准备好。被揪的那一刻，老师可能料到自己的行为有点过。但是谁又能控制自己的情感冲动呢？当他们双手接触的前一秒，我早已被感动地泪腺直飚。
在夕阳时刻能有少年般的爱恋真的不容易。儿女的反对和讽刺让司机觉得他早已看透了他的儿女，他只想有心灵的伴侣，而不是孤老。
在遭受挫折之后的他，却想要离开，只想让司机能好好的。但是殊不知他想要的就是和你在一起。他们做到了。彼此感动和理解。
我只能说这是一部很成功的掰弯事例。爱不分年龄和性别。只在乎真。
