Soonhoweverthedrillheadstartstoleakanoilygreenliquidthattransformsthosewhotouchitintoviciousprimevalcreatureswithacravingforheat.TheDoctorisaccidentallytransportedbythepartially-repairedTARDIScontrolconsoleintoaparalleluniversewhereEnglandisruledbyamilitarydictatorship. Thedrillingprojectisatamoreadvancedstagehereand,thwartedbyhisfriends'ruthlessalteregos,heisunabletopreventthepenetrationoftheEarth'scrust,whichultimatelycausestheplanet'sdestruction.Escapingbacktohisownuniverse,wherethedrillingisstillinprogress,theDoctortriestowarnofimpendingdisaster.Atfirstheisdisbelieved,buthiswordsareborneoutwhenthepower-crazedStahlmanishimselftransformedintooneofthehideousprimordialcreatures.
